We're very excited to get started with rehearsals for our January 2026 pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, very soon!

This page contains everything you need to know if you'd like to be involved in the show, including rehearsal information, the roles and auditions.

As well as welcoming back our existing members we would love to invite any new people interested in joining us on- or off-stage for this production. Child places are currently full due to very high demand, but adult places are still available. Please could all new members complete our online application form to ensure everyone’s contact details are up-to-date; this is important so we can contact you about auditions and rehearsal arrangements.

All meetings, auditions and rehearsals will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Pontefract Road, Castleford WF10 4JB unless notified to the contrary.

Tuesday 2nd September: 7.30pm – Meeting for everyone wishing to be involved, including audition arrangements and the giving out of pieces etc for those who are interested in auditioning for specific roles.

Tuesday 16th September: Auditions (Times TBC) Character details and audition pieces below...

Tuesday 23rd September, 7.00 pm – first rehearsal for everyone involved on stage.

Thursday 25th September onwards – rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (incl. October half term);

A full rehearsal schedule will be issued ASAP, but will inially be based on the following format:

o Tuesdays - singing (children 7.00 - 8.00 pm; adults and under 16s in adult chorus 8.00 – 10.00 pm).
o Thursdays – movement (children 6.30 -7.30 pm; adults and under 16s in adult chorus 7.30 pm onwards.

An additional Sunday rehearsal may be held in November and details will be confirmed ASAP.

A WhatsApp chat group will be set up once everyone involved on stage is confirmed, to keep everyone informed about rehearsals and any changes.

Thursday 8th & Friday 9th January 2026 at 7.15pm each evening,
Saturday 10th January 2026 at 1.00pm & 5.30pm
Sunday 11th January 2026 at 1.00pm.

The sign-up form to audition is at the bottom of this page (go there now) Please sign up by the end of Sunday 14th September, so timings can be arranged. you will be notified as soon as possible either by text or e-mail of your audition time.

There is no need to audition to be part of the chorus!

BELLE - Beautiful, kind and caring girl. Head always in a book, can be a bit feisty! . Friend of Pierre and loved by the Villagers. Needs to be loved by the audience too. Female - Singing role. Audition Script

LE FOOL - The name says it all. Sidekick to Gaston, whatever Gaston wants, Le Fool gets. Totally at his beck and call, needs a backbone! Male or Female - Non singing. Audition Script - CLICK HERE

ENCHANTRESS - A magical lady, she is the wise and kind storyteller of Beauty and the Beast. Interacting with the audience, she must appear mystical. Good always conquers evil in her world! Audition Script - CLICK HERE

CHARDONNAY and SHIRAZ - Belle's sisters - proper Chavs! They don't like Belle, but will use her when necessary! Both think they are talented, like to bicker between themselves!
