Encore Theatre Company have been pleased to provide support to the following charities with monies raised each year from our Prize Draw and audience donations at our performances. Since 2011, ETC have raised almost £10,000 for these charities.

This year's charity: The Prince of Wales Hospice, PontefractThe Prince of Wales Hospice has been providing care to people with a life-limiting illness since 1989. Their services are completely free of charge and available to any adult from the Five Towns area of the Wakefield District, but onlt 25% of the cost comes from the NHS. They therefore rely heavily on the support provided through their shops, fundraising events, donations and community fundraising to raise the £3m a year required. 2023/24: Guide DogsGuide Dogs is the world's largest breeder and trainer of working dogs. And thanks to their dedicated staff and volunteers – and vital donations – 36,000 lives have been transformed through a guide dog partnership since 1931. 2022/23: The Clothing BankThe Clothing Bank was established in January 2020 by Susan Bell and Sally Parkinson after they noticed a gap in the support chain for people who were accessing help to clothe themselves or their family after having to pay for their everyday living costs. The Clothing Bank community currently stands at over 51000 people who help by donating clothing an acting as volunteer drop-off points. 2022: British Red Cross - Ukraine Crisis AppealFollowing Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, ETC asked our audiences to make donations to the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal following our performance that year. 2019/20: Yorkshire Air AmbulanceThe Yorkshire Air Ambulance needs to raise £12,000 per day to keep both of Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s helicopters maintained and in the air. The donations received go directly into the life saving service provided. However, as an independent Charity we rely on the generosity of those who support the service to continue to save lives across Yorkshire. 2018/19: Yorkshire Cancer ResearchEvery week in Yorkshire, 575 people are diagnosed with cancer. You are also more likely to get cancer and more likely to die from it than most other counties in England. We want to change this. Our goal is that by 2025, at least 2,000 more people in our region survive cancer every year. Proceeds from Encore's fundraising will be donated to research projects at the Universities at Bradford, Hull, Leeds, Sheffield, York, their associated teaching hospitals and the MRI Centre at Hull Royal Infirmary. 2015/16: Bluebell Wood Children's HospiceBluebell Wood is one of only 53 children's hospices in the UK. They care for over 200 children and young people in their hospice and in the community from across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. 2014/15: New StartNew Start is a registered charity which supports the programme of heart and lung transplantation at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester, serving the north of England. The charity seeks to support and enhance the NHS transplant unit by providing funds to accelerate the adoption of new procedures and funding of research which advances the technology surrounding transplantation. 2013/14: Joseph Lillywhite's JourneyJoseph Lillywhite is a young local boy who is having frontline treatment for stage 4 neuroblastoma, supported by the Neuroblastoma Children’s Cancer Alliance UK (NCCA UK). 2013: Leukaemia & Lymphoma ResearchLeukaemia & Lymphoma Research is the only UK charity dedicated to research into improving the lives of patients with all types of blood cancer, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Monies were raised in the Autumn of 2013, when the Company staged a production of “Calendar Girls”. 2012/13: CandlelightersEstablished in 1976, Candlelighters is a charity formed and run by parents of children who have or have had cancer, ex-patients and the medical staff who treat them.
