Encore Theatre Company - Coronavirus Statement - 17th March 2020
Following tonight's meeting between the members and Committee of ETC, the decision has been made to postpone this year's production of Chess, The Musical.
This follows developments relating to the continued spread of Coronavirus including government advice to stop all non-essential contact with others. New College Pontefract have also cancelled all lettings for the foreseeable future, including our booking of the John Godber Theatre in July.
While nobody knows how long the pandemic will last, or what the long term consequences will be, at present our intention is to defer our production of Chess to July 2021, subject to obtaining a revised license.
Prior to the escalation of Coronavirus, the ETC Committee were preparing to announce our 2020 pantomime, Cinderella, to be performed at Castleford Phoenix Theatre during the first week of December. This is still our intention, but again this is subject to ongoing developments.
Our AGM, scheduled for 22nd April and the fundraising hoe-down on 16th May have also been postponed until further notice.
The priority for us all now is to look after ourselves and each other. We will post updates as and when we can, but in the meantime please keep in touch via social media.
